On Monday 4th April 7-8pm some of my marvellous Guitar and Ukelele students are performing at a Spring Showcase. Karen and Laurence Mann have kindly invited us to their house at 72 Northcote Rd.

This will be an interesting mixture of ages- from 11 to Adult, and include a variety of styles, with Acoustic and Electric Guitars, as well as Ukelele, and an original song or two.

If you would like to come and see them and stay for refreshments afterwards please contact surya@blueyonder.co.uk, or phone 07770 993289

Neighbourhood Watch Advisory

North St Margarets Residents' Association is the co-ordinator of the local Neighbourhood Watch scheme and circulates information and notices from time to time in support of its role. We are fortunate enough to live in the safest borough in London - let's help to keep it so.

The local community police have asked that you are aware of the following:

Thefts from motor vehicles

The police have just informed me that there has been a notable rise in these, particularly in the roads closer to the roundabout but also in Newry Road. Many of the vehicles had left their Sat Nav mounts on the windscreen and the thieves had drilled out the locks and stolen the Sat Navs from the glove boxes.

Please do not leave any valuables in your car and remove any Sat Nav mounts (and the marks they leave on the windscreen) before leaving your car.

Suspicious Caller:

If you receive a call, purporting to be from the police, asking if you are in a Neighbourhood Watch scheme and suggesting you join a “help scheme” which will involve “registration” costing just a £1 – hang up! No-one from the Police or any official Neighbourhood Watch organisation will be making any such calls. This is a scam, probably to obtain your Credit or Debit Card details.

Neighbourhood Watch Changes

Neighbourhood Watch is becoming (a little more) electronic.

Residents may, if they wish, register on the NW portal at www.neighbourhoodalert.co.uk/30/join from where at some point in the near future, messages from the police will be sent directly to residents as well as via the Association's NW coordinator.

This should mean that you receive messages more quickly rather than having to wait for us to recirculate them.

Registration is free at the above web address.

The association is already registered as the coordinator of the scheme.

Crime Reporting

In reviewing the local crime statistics provided by the Safer Neighbourhood team, it's apparent that people are not reporting what they feel are minor crimes or incidents that they believe the police will not be interested in. It is very important that we report all incidents.

This is the main tool that the police use to decide where and when to deploy their resources. If we are unfortunate enough to report higher crime numbers then we will see more patrols in our streets.

Details of how to report a crime or incident are below.

|If you see a crime being committed:|999|
|Non-emergency number:|0300 123 1212|
|Local Safer Neighbourhood Team: |020 8721 2912|

The Eden project has nominated the 5th June for the event next year.

However, this falls at the end of a school holiday week and we are considering whether it would be better if we held ours a week later on the 12th June.

Many of you have attended and enjoyed this event for the past two years. Please let us have your thoughts on when we should hold this.

Register of Tradesmen

It's been suggested that the association maintains a list of "reliable" tradesmen (decorators, electricians, etc.) who have done work for local residents and who other residents can use with a degree of peace of mind.

We would be pleased to maintain a paper and web-site copy of this so if you have used someone that you would recommend, please email us with their details (name, contact details, what they do) and your own details as all entries will have the recommender's name alongside to guard against undue self promotion.
